Richard Larson

Associate Vice President of Community Services

Richard Larson has worked in social services in the New York City area for over 30 years.  He began his career at Covenant House working with runaway and homeless youth.  While there he earned his Masters in Social Work at Columbia University.  He has worked in a variety of leadership roles including working with HIV+ people at Bronx Works, with those affected by 9/11 at Catholic Charities and with youth returning home from foster care at Children’s Village.

Most recently he worked as the Chief Strategy Officer at Lantern Community Services operating supportive housing apartments for people leaving homelessness.

Throughout his career Richard has worked to develop programs and to use data to show the efficacy of the work we do.  He has written many successful grant proposals as he helped agencies grow.  He has been the filed advisor for more than a dozen MSW students.  He continues to be struck by the resiliency of our clients and the dedication of the social service staff facing very difficult circumstances.

Richard lives in Dobbs Ferry with his wife Jessica and two grown children who enjoy towering over their father.  Zoom calls with him may be interrupted by the family dog as Bilbo continues his never ending battle against his archenemy the UPS truck.
