Child and Family Treatment Support Services help children and families navigate the various challenges of living with mental health conditions through supportive counseling and skill building based services. At Seamen’s Society our Bright Beginnings program is developed to provide these comprehensive set of services in a way that’s both individualized and flexible. Our licensed therapists will “meet you where you are” and offer multiple setting options for services including telehealth, in home, in the office as well as various community locations from the Conference house to the Staten Island Ferry.
Approach
As with all mental health services, there is a specific criterion that your child must meet to determine eligibility for admission. This can come from your doctor, your provider as well as from our licensed clinical social workers. Utilizing a child centered, trauma informed, culturally sensitive evaluation process, our team will be able tell you whether these services will be able to help. And if not? We’ll work within our network to help you identify an alternate provider who may be better suited to provide for your children’s needs.
However, if your child is enrolled in our program, our team will support your family every step of the way. We’ll walk you through each type of service and how it can help. We’ll provide guidance on the illness and offer strategies to assist. Our licensed therapists will develop a goal-oriented treatment plan with your and your child’s input so that progress becomes clear and tangible. And when your child has achieved those goals, we’ll support you throughout the next steps.
Trained in multiple treatment modalities, our licensed therapists will be able to treat your child in an individualized manner based on their developmental and behavioral needs. Our services include forms of traditional talk therapy, play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as well as other evidenced based treatment options. Additionally, should the need be present, concrete skill building based work will help your family and child navigate the day to day.
